A new terror group,MOJAO emerges in Nigeria
fundamentalist Boko Haram sect, another terror group, Movement for
Oneness and Jihad in West Africa, has emerged.
Our correspondents gathered that the new sect also has a strong
presence in Niger Republic.
Currently, two terrorist groups exist in Nigeria — Boko Haram and
Jama'atu Ansarul Muslimina fi Biladis Sudan.
SUNDAY PUNCH reports that there are fears in security circles that
MOJAO may infiltrate the country due to the porous nature of Nigeria's
borders.
Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, had last week said there were
1,497 illegal routes into the country.
MOJAO, a splinter group of the international terror group, al-Qaeda in
the Islamic Maghreb, is after military operatives and facilities of
countries that are complementing France's efforts in quelling
terrorists' insurgency in Mali.
Besides Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Bukina Faso are involved in military
operations in Mali.
On Thursday, the Jihadist group claimed responsibility for a twin
suicide bombing attack at the Nigerian/Nigerien border.
No fewer than 26, mostly Nigerien soldiers, were killed and about 30
injured, in the multiple attacks.
MOJAO spokesman, Abu Walid Sahraoui, said the attacks were targeted at
"the enemies of Islam."
"We attacked Niger Republic because of its co-operation with France in
the war against Sharia," he added.
A highly placed security official told one of our correspondents that
the group had been in existence since 2011.
According to the official, who pleaded anonymity because he was not
authorised to speak on the subject, MOJAO poses a threat to Nigeria's
security.
He said, "We now have to prevent them from infiltrating Nigeria; we
have enough Boko Haram challenges. Don't forget that members of Boko
Haram, who were dislodged from Sambisa Games Reserve and other camps
in Borno State fled to neigbouring states and the Niger Republic. So
many of them from Abadan, Malam Fatori and other villages, are now
refugees in Difa, Niger Republic. They can decide to pitch tents with
MOJAO.
"MOJAO has attacked barracks in Niger, which is similar to what Boko
Haram does in Nigeria. This new group may want to do the same in here
majorly because we are also involved in the Malian operation — which
is one of their grievances.
"They are also likely to target our soldiers at the border."
When SUNDAY PUNCH contacted the Director of Defence Information,
Brig.-Gen Chris Olukolade, on Friday about the threat of the new
group, he said efforts were on to sensitise all military formations
across the country to exhibit a high level of alertness.
Olukolade said the Nigerian troops were at the border with Niger in
line with the military's decision.
He said, "Our troops are everywhere. They have been at the border
since the beginning of the operation.
"Military formations are being sensitised on the need to maintain a
high level of alertness in all locations whether or not they are
involved in any operation or exercises.
"The public is implored to be vigilant and ensure that they report all
suspicious movements or activities to security agencies promptly."
President Goodluck Jonathan had on May 14, 2013, during a national
broadcast, declared a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa
states.
This was in response to the activities of suspected terrorists in
North-Eastern part of Nigeria.
Some sections of Nigeria's border with Niger pass through Yobe and Borno states.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State has begun the registration of residents of
communities in its domain as a precautionary step against infiltration
by militants fleeing military bombardment in Borno State.
SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that holders of the traditional titles of Sarkin
Matasa (youth leaders) in communities across the state were driving
the project.
A military source in the state said, "Adamawa State through the
emirate council has introduced a house-to-house count of people in the
state. This is to enable all wards leaders to know the exact number of
persons per household and to check infiltrators in Borno."
The source, who pleaded anonymity, added that suspected Boko Haram
members, who had fled northern Borno, were regrouping at Zumo area of
Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The area is believed to have a difficult topography comprising
mountains, rocks, and thick forest that extends to the country's
northern border with Cameroon.
The Director, Press and Public Relations of the Adamawa State
Government House, Mr. Ahmad Sajoh, confirmed the development.
He said, "What is happening is part of our pro-active measures to
mitigate the effects of the state of emergency. The Sarkin Matasa, who
are traditional title holders in the state's Emirate Council, will
mobilise people to be pro-active.
"What they are doing is to encourage the people to open registers,
either in writing or using indigenous methods, to keep track of
residents of a given area.
"You know, counter-insurgency cannot succeed without security winning
the hearts and minds of the people. With this method, the people will
know one another better and will be able to account for members of the
community, in case they go out and do not return."
Woolwich killer Michael Adebowale was deported from kenya in 2010
described Michael Adebolajo, the alleged Woolwich terrorist he claimed
he converted to Islam as a "hero."
Bakri said Adebolajo was a hero because he had the "courage" to remain
at the scene after the killing and confront police officers. He also
claimed that God destined for the soldier Lee Rigby to die.
In a telephone interview with The Independent from exile in Lebanon,
Bakri declared: "He was not a coward, he did not flee the scene."
Bakri, who admitted that he knew Adebolajo and met him on several
occasions in 2004 when he was a London preacher described him as a
"very quiet, very shy man" who asked "basic questions about Islam."
The Independent reports he said: "I knew him as Michael when he came
to the meetings and then he converted and he became known as Abdullah;
I hear he then started calling himself Mujahid. He asked questions
about religion, he was curious. He had first started coming when there
was a lot of anger about the Iraq war and the war on terror. Whether I
influenced him or not, I do not know. But he was a quiet boy, so
something must have happened.
"He was also asking me questions about racism. I think the racism of
British society turned him towards Islam. He will only be judged by
God. If he dies, then he will become a martyr. He did not target
civilians, it was a military target. The British soldier also died for
his beliefs. The military is involved in killing Muslims around the
world. To many Muslims around the world, he [Adebolajo] is a hero,
because he was fighting back. Lots of Muslims in the UK will condemn
what he said, but there are many who will believe it is justified. It
will make the British Government sit up and think about withdrawing
their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. It is not for me to condemn
what he has done – I can't say what he has done is forbidden."
Bakri said he could understand why the alleged killers carried out the
attack on the machine gunner and drummer.
According to the The Independent, he said: "I saw the film and we
could see that he [the suspect] was being very courageous. Under Islam
this can be justified, he was not targeting civilians, he was taking
on a military man in an operation. To people around here [in the
Middle East] he is a hero for what he has done."
Bakri said Adebolajo used to visit his stall in London where the two
talked about Islam. He said Adebolajo also attended talks and meetings
the now banned group Al-Muhajiroun held.
In an interview with Reuters, Bakri said: "I think Michael, or
Mujahid, is going to stand for what God has destined for him. God
destined for him to carry out the attack and God destined for the
British soldier to die for the cause he believed in."
Bakri, who was known as the Tottenham Ayatollah, and who named his son
after Osama bin Laden, was once filmed in 2007 arguing that beheading
the enemies of Islam was permitted.
He was banned from returning to the UK after the 7/7 London bombings
for alleged links to al-Qaeda.
The UK Express reports he said in the 2007 "beheading" video: "When
you meet [Westerners], slice their own necks. And when you make the
blood spill all over, and the enemy becomes so tired, now start to
take from them prisoners. Then exchange them until the war is
finished. Verily they remind the sunnah of removing the head of the
enemy. They remind the sunnah of slaughtering the enemy. They remind
the sunnah of how to strike the neck of the enemy. They removed the
head of the enemy. Use the sword and remove the head of the enemy."
He now lives in exile in Lebanon. According to the Daily Mail, he left
London shortly after the 2005 bombings. The Home Office barred him
from returning to the UK.
He founded the Islamic group Hizb ut-Tahir in the UK and later Al-Muhajiroun.
Digital Journal reports that Anjem Chadoury former leader of
Al-Muhajiroun, also admitted that Adebolajo attended meetings.
According to Digital Journal, Choudary said he had known Adebolajo
after he converted to Islam in 2003. He said Adebolajo stopped
attending meetings of the group two years ago.
Digital Journal reports Choudary told The Independent: "He attended
our meetings and my lectures. I wouldn't describe him as a member [of
Al Muhajiroun]. There were lots of people who came to our activities
who weren't necessarily members. He was a pleasant, quiet guy. He
converted to Islam in about 2003. He was just a completely normal guy.
He was interested in Islam, in memorizing the Koran. He disappeared
about two years ago. I don't know what influences he has been under
since then."
Bakri's comments come as the UK police are being urged keep a close
watch on the comments and activities of radical Muslim clerics. The
Daily Mail reports that the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 have come under
harsh criticism after airing interviews with radical UK Islamic
clerics, including Anjem Choudary.
When BBC Newsnight questioned Choudary on the video which showed
Adebolajo explaining, with reference to British foreign policy, why he
and his companion Michael Adebowale carried out the attack, Choudary
said: "what he said in the clip, I think not many Muslims can disagree
with."
A cellphone video showed the 28-year-old Adebolajo with bloodied
hands, wielding an ax and a butcher's knife, while attempting to
justify the gruesome murder of the British soldier Lee Rigby.
According to the Daily Mail, Tory MP Bob Stewart, a former army
Colonel and former commander of UN forces in Bosnia, responded to
Choudary's comments, saying: "He was sailing close to the wind but he
knew exactly what was saying to make sure he didn't go too far. If he
advocates racial killing we have a law against racially aggravated
crime."
Stewart said it was time for UK to "tear up human rights laws and
deport extremists deemed to be a threat to the public." According to
Stewart, Labor's Human Rights Act, based on the European Convention on
Human Rights, should be scrapped to allow the UK authorities take
action against hate preachers and terror suspects. He said: "It may
not be as democratic as libertarians would like but, I am sorry, we
are fighting a war."
Baroness Warsi, a senior Foreign Office minister, criticized the
decision to air the interview, saying: "We all have a responsibility,
including the media, not to give airtime to extremist voices – idiots
and nutters who speak for no one but themselves. The heartening thing
in the midst of all this tragedy is that the British Muslim community
has, with a unified, unreserved voice, condemned the killing and
pledged support for our armed forces. This is a real maturing of the
community which has taken years of painstaking work and frank
discussions behind closed doors. This time everyone has stepped up to
the mark. Yet here broadcasters are undoing all this by giving a
platform to one appalling man who represents nobody. I am really
angry."
The Daily Mail is reporting that the British Prime Minister is
planning to launch a new terror task force, Tackling Extremism and
Radicalization Task Force (TERFOR), which will implement measures to
muzzle Islamic hate preaching in the UK and ban extremist clerics from
using public platforms in schools, colleges, prison, and mosques to
spread their message.

The untold story about Uk Islamic extremist and Killer. Michael Adebowale
Islamic terrorist who
allegedly hacked a British
soldier to death tried
desperately to turn him away
from extremism but "could
not get through", according
to friends.
Michael Adebowale, the 22-
year-old son of a Christian
probation officer and a
member of staff at the
Nigerian High Commission,
was filmed holding a
bloodied cleaver in his hand
after Drummer Lee Rigby
was butchered in a London
street. Friends said he had
been a "lovely boy" but
became involved in some
"serious trouble" as a
teenager and then turned to
Islam. He started mixing with
some "bad people" and
became increasingly extreme
in his views.
His mother Juliet Obasuyi, a
43-year-old probation officer,
went to her friend and
neighbour, a 62-year-old
security officer, for help
about nine months ago after
her son dropped out of
university.
She told him: "Michael is not
listening any more. His older
sister is a good Christian with
a degree but Michael is
rebelling as he has no father
figure, dropping out of
university and handing out
leaflets in Woolwich town
centre.
"He is from a strong
Christian family but he is
turning to Islam and turning
against the family. He is
preaching in the streets. He
needs spiritual guidance
before he radicalises
himself."
Another friend, Steve Adebiyi,
who started a company with
Mrs Obasuyi, said she was
often left in tears after
speaking to him on the
phone. "The boy was giving
the mother problems," he
said. "She said he was in with
some bad group and causing
a lot of trouble. They
brainwashed him."
He and Michael Adebolajo,
the other suspected terrorist,
are thought to have met at
Greenwich University.
His mother was advised by a
neighbour to take him to the
head of the Woolwich
mosque for spiritual
guidance. He was converted
to Islam by the head Imam,
and taken for weeks of
"further training" at a centre
near Cambridge.
When he returned, however,
he was even more
"radicalised" and his mother
could no longer "get through
to him". A spokesman for the
mosque said they did not
know if he attended or been
converted there.
She subsequently returned to
Nigeria, where she is
pursuing a career in politics.
Neighbours in Greenwich
said he had been a "lovely
boy" who was a keen
Manchester United fan, but
as a teenager became "angry
at a lot of things".
Magdalene Edwards told
Channel 4 News: "He was a
lovely boy. Very gentle
natured, very respectful to
elderly people.
"He was angry at a lot of
things like a lot of young
people are. About a year ago
is when I saw him with this
whole Muslim dress.
"I said to him are you a
Muslim. And he said yes, he's
gone that way now. I said
just be careful, I'm aware
that there are some that ride
on the coat tales of Islam
and they're really not serving
their cause."
Adebowale's father, Adeniyi,
was born in Nigeria but came
to Britain to study at
Canterbury University. He
and Mrs Obasuyi had a child,
Michael, but subsequently
split up.
His mother married twice but
is now understood to be
single. She also started a
small fashion business. She
raised Adebowale in
Woolwich and Greenwich
along with his half sister.
Adebowale attended
Kidbrooke School in
Greenwich, where friends
said he was a "normal,
smiling teenager". Luqman
Ciise, one of his schoolmates,
said: "I knew him personally,
he was normal, smiling all
the time. His name was
Toby… Still can't believe
this."
According to a friend he and
his girlfriend, a fellow
convert, became well-known
in south-east London for
handing out extremist
leaflets.
Adebowale's father now
works for the Nigerian High
Commission in a flat just
yards froim Holloway prison
in North London. His flat was
raided on Thursday morning.
A neighbour said: "He has
lived here for at least ten
years. He is a very smart and
polite man, who is known to
everyone as Niyi. On
Thursday morning I was
woken up by the sound of
banging and shouts of
'armed police'. I looked out
and police were running into
Niyi's flat.
"I then heard them shout 'No
firearms and No drugs'. I
have got no idea what
happened to Niyi, but I
haven't seen him since.
"It came as a big shock
because he is a professional
man who works at the
Nigerian High Commission.
He leaves everyday in a collar
and tie and does not get
home until about 8pm."

Terror in Paris: French soldier gets throat cut by suspected radical Islamist
that 'theories' must be
explored as to why the attack
happened
The 25-year-old soldier was
knifed as a he patrolled
around the suburban railway
station for RER A service
which links the French capital
with the suburbs.
Pierre-Andre Peyvel, prefect
of the Hauts-de-Seine
district, said the soldier's
wounds were 'serious
enough'.
The soldier is currently at the
nearby Percy hospital.
'Thousands of people were in
the area at the time of the
attack,' said Mr Peyvel. 'It
would have been quite easy
to blend into the crowd and
then disappear.'
'The attack happened just
after 6pm,' said a police
source. 'The soldier was
stabbed repeatedly, most
notably in the throat.
'The attacker ran away and
the military are still looking
for him, supported by the
police. He is around 30 years
old and of Arab appearance.
'The wounded soldier was
taken to a local railway
station for treatment and
then on to hospital.'
The source said that the
soldier's life was not in
danger, but he was 'badly
hurt'.
The soldier is in France's 4th
Cavalry regiment, which has
served in Afghanistan and
has been on standby to fight
in Mali.
Highlighting the seriousness
of the attack on the soldier in
Paris, President Francois
Hollande said 'we must look
at all the theories' for it
happening.
'We will not rule out any of
them, we will look at all the
elements' said Mr Hollande,
clearly referring to the
possibility that the attacker
may have been motivated by
what happened in London.
Mr Hollande, who is on a visit
to Ethiopia, placed himself
firmly at the centre of the
war against terrorism earlier
this year by sending troops
into Mali, where Al-Qaeda
backed rebels have been
trying to take control.
Mr Hollande has warned that
European streets will be far
less safe if violent Islamists
are given free rein in former
French colonies, like Mali.
This has led to a huge
backlash from terrorist
groups, with numerous
warnings that the French
military, who are also fighting
in Afghanistan, are legitimate
targets

A Nigerian,Michael "MUHJAHID" Adeboloja Involved in the Woolwich Killing
A British Soldier In London BBC has confirmed that one of the guys who killed a British Soldier in Woolwich, South London yesterday is a Nigerian. He has been identified as 'Michael "MUJAHID" Adeboloja
Below is a detail report of what happened yesterday A man believed to be a British soldier was allegedly beheaded by two men, reportedly Islamic extremists, wielding machetes. Peter Jukes reports from London. In what the BBC is calling a "terror attack," a man was killed in broad daylight in Woolwich, London, on Wednesday afternoon. Two apparent suspects were later shot by police. According to the local MP, Nick Raynsford, the victim was an off-duty soldier from the nearby army barracks—as well as a local primary schoolteacher. Two men, who are suspected to be Islamic extremists, reportedly attacked a soldier wearing a "Help for Heroes" T-shirt, just after 2 p.m. in Woolwich, in southeast London, with machetes. The suspects allegedly yelled "Allahu Akbar" before the attack, witnesses told the BBC. The attack also reportedly continued long after the victim was killed, and some witnesses said they saw the body being dragged. According to a Scotland Yard spokesman, police were called to reports of an assault at 2:20 on Wednesday afternoon. "One man was being assaulted by two other men," said Commander Simon Letchford. "A number of weapons were reportedly being used in the attack, and this included reports of a firearm." Early eyewitness reports indicated the victim was hit by a car, although that has not been confirmed, before the attackers went after the victim with meat cleavers. One local resident, Julia Wilders, told the Press Association she had seen the victim lying on the ground. "We were driving back and my husband said to me, 'Don't look, they're resuscitating someone.' But apparently they were stabbing him. "We went back down there," Wilders said, "and saw a black man with a gun. My husband phoned the police and I went to the school to tell them. About 20 minutes later I went back there and another man had the gun and the taller man had two meat cleavers." Her husband, Graham Wilders, told the BBC that he saw armed police arrived and confronted the suspects. "All I heard was four shots when the Trojan [firearm officers] people turned up. These men actually went for the police with the machetes, knife, and handgun." Uncorroborated reports from eyewitnesses suggest the victim was beheaded, but police will only confirm the death of one man, and that "two men, whom we believe from early reports to have been carrying weapons, were shot by police. They were taken to separate London hospitals; they are receiving treatment for their injuries. On Wednesday evening ITV broadcast footage of one of the alleged assailants, apparently holding a bloody machete, addressing the camera with a series of political statements: "We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you," he said. Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, tweeted: "This afternoon's attack in Woolwich is a sickening deluded and unforgivable act of violence. My thoughts are with the victim and his family." Meanwhile, Prime Minister David Cameron is returning from a European trip to chair a meeting of COBRA, the senior government committee that meets at time of national or regional crisis, which will also be attended by Boris Johnson. In a press conference shortly after the incident, Cameron said there were strong indicators that it was a terrorist attack, and insisted that "we will not buckle" under the threat of terrorist attacks. No More Planned Attack on Muslims and Mosques -- MEND
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) Wednesday called off its plans to attack mosques and assassinate Islamic clerics to avenge the attack on Christians and churches by Boko Haram militants.
The group, in a statement yesterday by its spokesman, Gbomo Jomo, said despite several provocative statements credited to some Muslim leaders, it had decided to call off the planned attack.
"Our planned attacks on mosques and other related agencies of religious intolerance have been called off due to the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians, religious bodies and the Nigerian government's recent show of sincerity with the order to release from detention women, children, relatives and suspected Boko Haram members giving room for genuine dialogue.
"We have also heeded the appeal from Mr Henry Okah and Mr. Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs. To these effects, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (M.E.N.D) hereby announces the suspension of "Operation Barbarossa" which was to have commenced from Friday, May 31, 2013, with immediate effect. “Titilayo Killed Herself” – Akolade Arowolo, Alleged Wife Killer Narrates Her Last Moments “
Akolade Arowolo, accused of killing his banker wife, Titilayo Arowolo, yesterday, told an Ikeja High Court how he struggled with his slain wife while he was allegedly attacked with a knife by the deceased. Akolade, who was led in evidence on his defence by his lawyer, told the court that nothing could have made him to kill the deceased, because of the love he had for her. "I am not that kind of person, I loved her so much and I also love my daughter Olamide too," Akolade said. He gave his testimony before Justice Lateefat Okunnu. Giving his account on what happened on the fateful day, Akolade said he received a call from his father on his birthday around 10 a.m. and several other calls before he left home for the bank to cash some money for the birthday celebration. Arowolo said on his way home, he met his mechanic whom he had called earlier to fix the shaft of his Honda Accord car, to allow him and his late wife pick up their daughter, Olamide, from his in-laws' house. According to him, on getting home, he knocked at the door and his wife opened, dressed up as against their earlier discussions to stay in-doors to watch Big Brother Africa show. Arowolo said this led to some disagreements between the two of them, where he reminded her of all what she said about determination to be a good housewife. Akolade said: "From today you have made up your mind to be the best of wives and that you will no longer quarrel with me or leave the house again, that in particular no matter the differences we have you will never leave the house again and that I can help you to control your anger and I promised to do that." Akolade said instead of listening to him, his late wife slapped him and immediately his wife's father, George Oyakhire's call came in and she picked the call and told him that he should tell Akolade to leave her alone. He added that after some time, he went to meet one Mama Hanna Alaka, their neighbour, over what his wife did, and pondered that something must have been wrong with her. I saw my wife with knife Akolade said he saw his wife with a knife, but did not know what she wanted to do with it. He said: "Omo (his wife) used to take alcohol, some wine and Smirnoff ice and she had taken some before I left home in celebration of my birthday." Emphasizing the love he had for the late wife, he said: "I loved my wife so much not to want to see her hurt. And that's why I did all I could to ensure we stayed together. I loved my wife and my daughter, Olamide so much." He also said he tried to protect the woman and himself which led to his jumping out of their staircase. He said: "As a result of what happened on that day, I could equally have died from the injuries I sustained and the risk I took jumping from a four-storey building trying to save her from death. I still have a lot of medical challenges as a result of the injuries I sustained," he said. He said he was caught unawares and he tried everything he could to avoid the stabs and took the knife from her, adding that she didn't give him any reason for her actions that day but only continued to lash out at him. "I was trying to regain my balance and was shouting; "Omo, what's wrong with you. But rather than answer me, she was shouting, I will kill you and kill myself. While I was trying to calm her, she came at my navel and I had no choice than to disarm her. "The knife had cut my right palm into almost two and I had other cuts. I was bleeding all over and we were struggling for the knife until we fell down on the bed, the struggle continued and in the process, I sustained other lacerations and the knife dropped from her hand. How I jumped from the verandah "I then asked, Omo what's all these? And she said she was sorry. I told her to be calm while I get help but the door was locked and the key was not there. I kept asking Omo, where's the key and she was pointing at some places and I was scattering everywhere to locate the key. "I didn't see the key. What came to my mind was to break down the door, I ran to the kitchen, took a long spoon, hammer and knife but when I couldn't get it opened, in annoyance I threw the things on the floor and jumped from the verandah." He added that it was at that point that his mechanic brought his car and he entered it and went to the nearest police station to get help, adding that he didn't get there before he saw some policemen but while talking to them, a car hit him and he lost consciousness. Akolade added that a good Samaritan took him from the place on a commercial motorcycle but he couldn't say what happened as he woke up next day on the dump site of a public school. Speaking on his wife's reaction, Akolade stated that she was either drunk, mentally sick or hypnotised. "Her actions and behaviour were not consistent with the wife I left at home wearing my boxers and a see through top. Justice Okunnu adjourned the matter till September 17, 2013 for adoption of written addresses. [Culled from Vanguard]
President Obama will not visit Nigeria in His African Tour Due to Insecurity
Facts have emerged as to why the United States president, Senator Barrack Obama, decided not to put Nigeria in the list of the African countries that he will be visiting, as earlier scheduled.
These facts came barely forty-eight hours that the White House in Washington, DC relased to the press, the details of President Obama's travel to Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania.
Checks by our correspondent revealed that the American president was initially having it in his plans to add Nigeria to the planned Africa's visit but had to change his mind as a result of the unfavourable security reports that the White House has been receiving about the country since three weeks ago.
Our correspondent gathered that Obama had been in constant touch with President Goodluck Jonathan for over two months regarding the visit as a way he (Obama) felt could be used to pacify Nigeria over the way and manner he canceled his earlier schedulled trip to the country during his first term as the American president.
Although, several diplomatic efforts were made by Nigerian officials both in the United States and Nigeria to make the American President Obama visit Nigeria, the American government decided to ignore the idea as a result of the high level of insecurity in the country.
Further checks by our correspondent showed that the Department of State had earlier given the federal government some conditions that could make President Obama add Nigeria to his planned visit to Africa but the inability of the Jonathan-led administration to curb the insecurity in the nation disqualified the country from making the list of the countries that the American leader and his wife, Michelle, will be visiting between the 26th of June and 3rd July, 2013.
It would be recalled that the United States government has recently been complaining about the loss of lives, bombings, impunity and corruption on the side of the federal government, and the idea of using force on families of the members of the Boko Haram Sect by the Nigerian security agents.
The inability of the Nigerian government to strictly adhere to the warnings of the American government, LEADERSHIP gathered made the White House to see Nigeria as a place its president cannot visit.
An official of the United States who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone however disclosed that the canceled visit of President Obama to Nigeria would not jeopardised the good relationship that both countries share together.
"The United States present has a very good Bi-national relationship with Nigeria and the fact that President Obama did not include the country in his planned visit to Africa will not make the US to withdraw all her supports from Nigeria. Nigeria is our most strategic partner in Africa and nothing will ruin our relationship. Maybe in the future, the president will visit but now, he cannot because the security reports available are not encouraging" the official who pleaded anonymity hinted.
Meanwhile, President Obama will return to Africa this summer for the first time since his first year in office, the White House announced Monday.

RELIGIOUS PROTEST: Imo Youths lock-out Bishop-Elect
Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area
of Imo State yesterday locked the
Catholic Cathedral to protest the
ordination of Monsignor Peter
Okpalaeke as the Bishop of Ahiara
Diocese.
Okpalaeke, who is from Anambra State,
was appointed bishop-elect of the
diocese by former Pope Benedict XVI
last December after the death of the
pioneer bishop of the diocese, Victor
Chikwe.
But while ordination was going on, the
priests and Catholic faithful including
the youths from the diocese, who
preferred an indigene of Mbaise as
bishop of the diocese, said the bishop-
elect would not be allowed in the
diocese.
The youths, who took over the church,
locked up the entrance gate to the
cathedral where the newly ordained
bishop was to begin his 10- year
tenure as the bishop of Ahiara Diocese.
The protesters, who disrupted vehicular
and human movement in the area,
vowed not to allow the bishop access
into the cathedral, insisting that the
diocese would remain without a bishop
for the next 10 years. Some of
protesters told journalists that "we will
not allow this injustice. We don't want
the bishop who is not from our
community.
That is all we are saying and we are
ready to fight to finish". Despite the
protesters' threat, Pope Francis directed
Catholic authorities yesterday to ordain
the bishopelect.
The ordination, which was carried out
amid tight security at the Seat of
Wisdom Seminary in Ulakwo in Owerri
North Local Government Area, was held
several miles away from the Ahiara
Diocese.
This, according to a source, was to
prevent the breakdown of law and
order. However, many Catholic faithful
and other dignitaries within and
outside the country, including John
Cardinal Onaiyekan, the archbishop of
Abuja, attended the ordination. In his
sermon, the Catholic Bishop of Umuahia
Archdiocese, Lucius Ugorji, said: "Only
the Pope has the final say in the
appointment of bishops.
There is no provision for quota system
in the appointment of bishops."
According to him, the acceptance of the
appointment is a respect for the Pope,
while rejection, inflammatory
statements and protests are spiteful
and disrespectful to the Papal authority.
Ugorji urged the people to work with
the new bishop for the progress of the
diocese.
PHOTONEWS:Ex-Militants demand for Amaechi Resignation
Ex-Niger Delta militants recruited by President Goodluck Jonathan stormed the entrance into the rivers' state government house today to demand the resignation of Governor Rotimi Amaechi from office.
The militants wearing colorful T-shirts, drums and wirlding sticks were largely peaceful even though sources close to the state government said several of them carried concealed weapons as they blocked the entrance into the government house effectively preventing the governor and his aides from leaving the government house.
Mr. Amaechi has been engaged in a bitter standoff with President Jonathan over political differences as the governor opposes Mr. Jonathan's plan to get a second term in office. The protest today is believed to be a prelude to a total breakdown of law and order in the relatively peaceful city that would ultimately lead to the imposition of a state of emergency or outright removal of the governor from office.

Sir Alex Ferguson to Earn a Whopping 100,000pounds per day as Manchester United Ambassador
Jason Ferguson is masterminding father Sir Alex's hugely lucrative post-management options nine years after the Manchester United board pledged never to do business again with his football agency.
Jason's disbanded Elite Sport ceased to act on United transfers following an internal inquiry into the 99 questions posed by United's then major shareholders, John Magnier and JP McManus, which put Sir Alex's transfer dealings under unprecedented scrutiny.
But the wheel has turned to the extent that Fergie's reported £2million-a-year United ambassador deal was negotiated by Jason.
The contract is for 20 appearances per year that value Sir Alex's time at a whopping £100,000 a day.And that day rate is what Fergie, whose retirement was front-page news in the Financial Times, could expect to earn on the business management speaking circuit around the world.
Certainly United understand Fergie's immense value as a global figure in terms of their ever-expanding commercial operation.Jason is also handling his father's dealings with publisher Hodder & Stoughton for his second autobiography, to be published in October, for which an advance of around £2m was agreed three years ago.

Three Fake Oil Dealers Arrested In Lagos
Three suspected fraudsters specialising in defrauding unsuspecting oil dealers in Lagos have been paraded by the Lagos State Police Command. The suspects, Clement Aladay Enenche, Lawrence Audu Oduh and Mike Edache Enenche were arrested by the police after a long trail, having being in their wanted list since 2012. The other suspect, Emmanuel Amakre is still at large.
The suspected fraudsters who claimed to be dealing in petroleum products had succeeded in defrauding several innocent people of over N75million. Their mode of operation was to source for products, especially, diesel and petrol from unsuspecting marketer, then bargain on a price and issue the victim a dud cheque.
Later, the victim receives false bank alert, even as they escape with the products. Usually, the transaction turns out to be a scam since the fraudsters' accounts in the banks are not sufficiently funded.
To make their business seem genuine, the suspects registered three companies namely Hephzibah Energy Resources Ltd, Deep Flank Energy Resources and Blue Moon Energy Resources through which they perpetrated their illegal acts. They also opened several accounts with various banks to facilitate their criminal activities.
These include: UBA Bank Account Number 1016490678; Diamond Bank Account Number 0024570380, Sterling Bank Account Number 0016979153, FCMB Account Number 0738460014 and GTB Bank . Some of their victims include Emmanuel Nnamezie, MD Echemas Nigeria Limited situated at No. 2, Bauchi Road, Jos, Plateau State who was defrauded of 33, 000 litres of PMS valued at N4 million.
The matter was reported at Area B, Apapa. Following investigations, detectives traced the buyer of the products to one Okey Ikeh, who claimed to have bought them from Mike Edache Enenche. Other victims include Nikky Best who was defrauded of N5.2million, Mrs. Ogini, N6.1million, Professor, N6million, Innocent Okonkwo, N9.6million, Pesu Temisanre N4.7million, Royal Oil N2.9million, Metna Oil and Gas N4million, King Simon N11million, Jonathan N5million among others.
In an interview with reporters, the syndicate's kingpin, Clement Aladay resorted to insulting journalists, saying he was being victimised by some unnamed persons. He said he could only say one thing, that; "we are talking about money here, all I can say is that I am owing some people and some owe me too."
TuFace,Faze and Ras-Kimono Sweeps the Road in Lagos
The artistes participated in a programme organised by COSON.
Some artistes in the Nigerian music industry on Tuesday turned out en masse to clean up the streets of Lagos, feed the hungry, and visit the homeless.
Musicians who participated in the exercise included TuFace Idibia, who was accompanied by his manager, Efe Omorogbe. Others were Ras Kimono, Dizzy Falola and Chibuzor Orji, popularly called "Faze'', amongst others.
The exercise was organised by the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) as part of efforts to create awareness about the industry and bring music to the doorstep of every Nigerian.
The event was one of the major highlights of the COSON week which commenced on May 19 with the tag "COSON in the streets".
In a brief remark during the exercise, Orji commended COSON for protecting the interest of musicians and urged the society to do more
"I appreciate what they (COSON) are doing. They should keep it up," he said.
In an interview, Falola also commended COSON for its efforts to make the future of Nigeria's music industry secure. He said the exercise was an indication that Nigerian musicians were serious and committed to the progress of the country.
"Musicians and other celebrities are always viewed as different and separated from other Nigerians, but we have come out to involve ourselves in activities we normally do not do. The activities include cleaning the streets, disposal of waste and visiting the homeless.
"We are human beings. If the people see what we are doing, they will realise that we are all the same," he said, and urged other organisations to emulate the musicians.
"What we are doing is unusual. It is something that is hard for other organisations to do, but we have to start from somewhere and COSON has taken the giant step.
"With the success of the event in Lagos, we can begin to move from state to state in order to reach the masses and positively improve the music industry," Falola said.
On his part, TuFace Idibia commended COSON for its efforts to improve the livelihood of musicians as well as its transparency and openness.
He said Nigerians were not recognising the dignity of labour and were looking down on jobs like cleaning and waste disposal.
"There is dignity in labour. Some Nigerians view some jobs like cleaning and waste disposal as inferior.
"People who do these jobs are earning money and we need to respect them and what they do. They are not doing anything illegal. There is dignity in what they do," Tuface said.
He urged Nigerian youths not to wait for government jobs only but to engage in jobs that are legal to earn their living.
: Open Letter to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan(GCFR)
Good day,Mr President... It's a privilege to write this open letter to you.May the Lord God continue to bless and uplift you. I have some issues bothering my mind that i will like to tell you but it's not possible to do that face - to - face.
To be Realistic,The issue of unemployment is the basic cause of all the threat to security in Nigeria,It's clearly stated in the bible that idle hand is devil's workshop. We know you are trying as the president of this great country but the Omatse group,Militant Group and Boko haram sect are caused because of idleness.
Secondly,Dont trust some people you call your aids, they want your downfall so as to takeover in the year 2015.Nobody doesnt want to be the president. The State of Emergency is a good step but you should try your possible best to stop it not to prevent it for a short while
Thirdly,As a Good Nigerian,i think you need to summon NCC to get the call datas of the Boko haram Sect because during election tribunals they always present call logs. They also use Facebook,Youtube and other network, they can be traced and punished according to law. There should be zero tolerance for terrorism.
In Addition,i think in this country, some people are above the law,how can someone be sentenced for 45years for stealing a phone is that one in any constitution.i think there should be equality in passage of judgement to the masses.
Finally,Sir,you are eligible to contest in 2015,nobody can stop you but dont force yourself to claim the seat,...let justice prevail...
> Thanks
